The 2 week-long Copenhagen conference concluded on Dec 19, 2009 in the Danish capital after producing a non-legally binding document on climate change. These agreements are in good ones and in bad ones.
"The results achieved at the conference are not destination, but a new starting point." said Zheng Gouguang, head of the China Meteorological Administration, in an interview with Xinhua. “The accord upheld the dual-track mechanism of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and its Kyoto Protocol as well as the principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities", which reflects the consensus reached by all parties since the Bali Road Map negotiations started.” said Zheng.
COP 15 produced a non-legally binding accord. But it can be seen as an important and significant step forward. More countries published their mitigation action targets in 2020, even longer time pre- and post COP 15. Carbon market’s new round of vigorous development is foreseeable in the near future.
Despite the global economic
downturn, the carbon market
maintains a relative stable
development. Due to the
uncertainty for the carbon market
post 2012, some primary market
(developing countries) players are
on the fence, waiting for the clear
signals from policy makers.
Undoubtedly the COP15 will bring
great influence on the CERs
market.
